Did Jibril (AS) Descend to Earth After the Prophet’s ﷺ Passing?

How many times did Jibril (عليه السلام) descend to earth after the passing of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and for what purpose? Please provide a detailed answer.

❖ Answer​

The knowledge of whether Jibril (عليه السلام) descended to earth after the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed away can only be known through revelation. Since divine revelation ceased with the death of the Prophet ﷺ, there is no certain or authentic report that tells us how many times, or even if, Jibril (AS) descended to the earth afterward.

❖ The Descent of Angels on Laylat al-Qadr​

However, the Qur’an clearly mentions the descent of angels during Laylat al-Qadr, including Jibril (AS):

"تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا"
“The angels and the Spirit descend therein...”
Surah al-Qadr: 4

According to Imam al-Ḍaḥḥāk, the word "روح" (the Spirit) refers to Jibril (AS), and Laylat al-Qadr occurs every year.

Therefore, it is understood that Jibril (AS) still descends to earth on the night of Laylat al-Qadr, but the details of his descent are known only to Allah ﷻ, and humans have no precise knowledge beyond what has been revealed.

Anyone who claims that Jibril (AS) visits them after the Prophet ﷺ is making a false and deceitful statement. There is no Sharʿī evidence supporting such claims. It is possible that those who believe so are being misled by Shayṭān impersonating Jibril (AS) to lead them astray.

✔ Revelation has ended with the Prophet ﷺ.
✔ Jibril (AS)’s known descent post-Prophethood is limited to Laylat al-Qadr, per the Qur’an.
✔ No trustworthy individual today receives visits from Jibril (AS).
