Author: Shaykh al-Islam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him)
Translation:
Maulana Mukhtar Ahmad Nadwi (Hafizahullah)
It was a strange and contradictory habit of the people of ignorance (ahl al-jahiliyyah) that, despite claiming allegiance to a particular religion, they would act in stark opposition to it. Moreover, they would establish close ties with the enemies of that very religion. This behavior is evident in how they treated the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). When he presented the religion of Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) to them, they instead followed the teachings found in the books of magic, which was the religion of the followers of Pharaoh.
Similar examples can be found within the Muslim Ummah as well, where people abandoned the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), acted contrary to it, and instead supported the practices and ideologies of philosophers.
