Chapter: Condemnation of the One Who Fails to Enter Paradise Despite Having Elderly Parents
«باب فى ذم من أدرك أبويهما أو أحدهما عند الكبر فلم يدخل الجنة»
✿ Narrated by Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه):
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“May his nose be rubbed in dust! May his nose be rubbed in dust! May his nose be rubbed in dust!”
It was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, who is he?”
He replied:
“The one who finds his parents—either one or both—in old age and (still) does not enter Paradise.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ: Muslim 2551]
✿ Narrated by Abū Mālik (رضي الله عنه):
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever finds his parents—or even one of them—and yet enters Hell after that, may Allah cast him far away and crush him.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ: Aḥmad 19027; Al-Ṭayālisī 1418; Al-Bukhārī in Al-Tārīkh Al-Kabīr 2/40]
① Serving parents in their old age is a golden opportunity for attaining Paradise.
② Neglecting this opportunity is seen as a sign of utter failure and invites divine condemnation.
③ The Prophet ﷺ repeated the curse thrice to emphasize the severity of this failure.
④ Even the presence of one elderly parent is a sufficient means to earn immense reward if served dutifully.
