Chapter: Consequences of Hostility Between Believers on Divine Forgiveness

✦ Forgiveness Withheld Because of Interpersonal Conflict

«عن أبي هريرة، رفعه مرة، قال: تُعرض الأعمال في كل يوم خميس واثنين، فيغفر الله عز وجل في ذلك اليوم لكل امرئ لا يشرك بالله شيئًا، إلا امرأً كانت بينه وبين أخيه شحناء، فيقال: أركوا هذين حتى يصطلحا، أركوا هذين حتى يصطلحا.»

[Ṣaḥīḥ: Reported by Muslim 2565: 36]
Narrated by Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) as a marfūʿ report:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Deeds are presented before Allah every Monday and Thursday. On that day, Allah forgives every person who does not associate anything with Him — except the one between whom and his brother is enmity. It is said: ‘Leave these two until they reconcile, leave these two until they reconcile.’”

✦ Key Lessons

Deeds are reviewed by Allah on specific days: Mondays and Thursdays.
Forgiveness is granted to all who uphold Tawḥīd — belief in the Oneness of Allah.
However, ongoing enmity between believers delays divine forgiveness.
Reconciliation is emphasized as a necessary step to attain full divine mercy.
