❀ Correct Method of Praying Maghrib and ‘Isha During Travel ❀
✿ Question:
Respected Shaykh, a person in a state of travel was unable to perform the Maghrib prayer. He arrives at the mosque at the time of the ‘Isha congregation, which has already begun, and he joins in the second rak‘ah. Should he first offer the Maghrib prayer or join the congregation for ‘Isha?
And if he chooses to pray Maghrib, should he conclude with salām alongside the imam?
❖ Answer by Shaykh ʿAbd al-Wakeel Nasir (حفظه الله):
In such a case, it is better for him to join the congregation with the intention of ‘Isha, because the time for Maghrib has already passed.
It is not correct to conclude the prayer with salām alongside the imam after making different movements from the imam during the prayer.
The issue of praying in advance or delaying (taqdeem wa ta'kheer) applies under exceptional circumstances, and adopting this method is better in such situations.
