When to Say “Raḍītu Billāhi Rabban” During the Adhān
Source: Fatāwā Arkān al-Islām
The ḥadīth states that while following the muʾadhdhin, one should say:
When exactly should these words be said?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
From the ḥadīth, it appears that these words should be said immediately after the muʾadhdhin says:
At that point, the listener repeats the shahādah in response and then adds:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Kitāb al-Ṣalāh, Bāb Istiḥbāb al-Qawl Mithl Qawl al-Muʾadhdhin…, ḥadīth: 386)
In another narration, the words (وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ) are also mentioned — meaning: “and I too bear witness.”
This shows that when the muʾadhdhin says: (أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ), the listener should immediately respond with the same words and add the specific phrase, because the conjunction “و” indicates continuation right after the muʾadhdhin’s statement.

Answer:

Evidence:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
