Question:

What should one believe regarding the acceptance of supplication (duʿā)?

Answer:

One must hold the belief that supplication is an effective means, and that Allah ﷻ accepts supplications, benefitting both the living and the deceased through it.

“Know that it is obligatory to believe that Allah ﷻ accepts supplications, grants His pleasure in return for it, averts divine decree through it, and benefits both the living and the dead by means of it. This is established through decisive Qur'anic verses and widely transmitted (mutawātir) Hadiths.”

(Ḥāshiyah al-Ṭaḥṭāwī, p. 15)
