❖ Contradictions of the Universe and the Fallacies of Atheism ❖
✿ Atheism and the Argument of Justice
Atheists often argue that religion portrays God as a just and fair Creator, yet the injustices, oppression, and contradictions observed in the world challenge this notion. They question:
- Why did God make some prophets and others born into brothels?
- Why is one honored as the bearer of Ḥawḍ al-Kawthar while another lives in disgrace?
- Why is the sacrifice of Ḥusayn (رضي الله عنه) glorified, but other sacrifices ignored?
❖ Defining Justice and the Atheistic Claim
Atheism claims that if God exists, He cannot be just, given worldly inequalities. However, it is also true that no universal or absolute definition of justice exists:
- An act considered unjust in one context may be just in another.
- For example, killing a murderer is injustice in personal revenge, but justice under law.
❖ Philosophical Contradictions and the Failure of Atheism
While atheism accepts the contradictions of the world, it fails to offer any meaningful explanation for them:
- Everything in the universe is understood in contrast—light is known by darkness, heat by cold, and joy by sorrow.
- If these contradictions were removed, the world would lose its beauty, meaning, and purpose.
- Atheism asks why, but is unable to provide answers.
❖ The Significance of Diversity in the Universe
Diversity is not a flaw but a feature of the universe, essential to its beauty and sustainability:
- Every human being has unique abilities, appearance, and circumstances, which maintain balance in the world.
- The Qur’an acknowledges this diversity:
"يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَى وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا"
(Sūrat al-Ḥujurāt: 13)
“O mankind, We created you from a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes so that you may recognize one another.”
❖ Divine Wisdom and Human Limitation
Every decision of the Creator is based on wisdom beyond human comprehension:
- God never claimed that everyone would be given identical opportunities. Rather, He promised fair judgment according to each person’s circumstances.
- Human intellect is limited and incapable of fully grasping the hidden wisdom behind creation and its apparent contradictions.
❖ The Philosophical Failure of Atheism
Atheism fails to answer many essential questions:
- Why was a woman made a woman and not a man?
- Why isn’t every person like Newton or Iqbal?
- Why is there no uniform global system?
❖ The Natural Philosophy of Diversity
Diversity and difference are not only natural laws but also the foundation of human progress:
- If everything were the same, the world would become a machine, and the beauty of human life would vanish.
- If every individual were made identical, society and its structure would collapse.
❖ Conclusion: The Universe Cannot Exist Without Contradictions
The contrasts and diversity in the universe reflect the creative wisdom of God. The presence of good and evil, joy and sorrow, wealth and poverty—all serve to give life meaning, purpose, and direction. These realities help us better understand God’s wisdom and the design of the universe. Far from disproving God, they affirm the need for a higher, divine wisdom behind all existence.
