Can Ḥudūd Punishments Be Carried Out in the Mosque?

Is it permissible to implement ḥudūd (fixed punishments) inside the mosque?
❖ Answer:
Ḥudūd cannot be carried out in the mosque. There is ijmā‘ (consensus) on this matter.
Scholarly Statements
❀ Imam al-Qurṭubī (671 AH):
"It is by consensus that ḥudūd are not to be carried out in the mosque."
(Tafsīr al-Qurṭubī, 15/164)
❀ Ibn al-Humām al-Ḥanafī (861 AH):
"By consensus of the jurists, no ḥadd or ta‘zīr is to be implemented inside the mosque."
(Fatḥ al-Qadīr, 5/235; Mirqāt al-Mafātīḥ, 6/2333)
Note:
Reports prohibiting the implementation of ḥudūd in the mosque are not authentically established, but the consensus of the fuqahā’ is decisive.
