Is the method of offering Salah (prayer) mentioned in the Qur’an and the Prophetic Hadith? If so, kindly provide the Qur’anic verse with its Surah number and the Prophetic Hadith along with its reference and number.
The complete method of offering Salah is indeed established through the Qur’an and Hadith. However, all the minute details of Salah are scattered across various Ahadith and are not collectively mentioned in a single Hadith. Hence, it is difficult to present a specific verse or Hadith that encapsulates all the particulars of Salah.
The Holy Qur’an issues a general command regarding the observance of Salah, as mentioned in Surah al-Baqarah, verse 238:
"حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ”
(al-Baqarah: 238)
(Guard strictly the prayers, especially the middle prayer, and stand before Allah with devotion.)
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"صَلُّوا كَمَا رَأَيْتُمُونِي أُصَلِّي”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Adhan, Hadith No. 631)
(Offer Salah as you have seen me offering Salah.)
The different pillars, conditions, and details of Salah can be understood by studying the chapters of Kitab al-Salah in the books of Hadith. These chapters shed light on all aspects, such as:
① The method of standing (Qiyam), bowing (Ruku‘), prostration (Sujood), and the final sitting (Tashahhud).
② The supplications and remembrances in Salah.
③ The prerequisites of Salah, such as purity (Taharah) and facing the Qiblah.
