Avoiding Tribulations
① Sayyiduna Miqdad bin Aswad رضي الله عنه narrates, By Allah! I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say:
إن السعيد لمن جنب الفتن، إن السعيد لمن جنب الفتن، إن السعيد لمن جنب الفتن، ولمن ابتلي فصبر فواها
Whoever is saved from tribulations is truly fortunate. Indeed, fortunate is the one who is saved from tribulations, and indeed fortunate is the one who is saved from tribulations. And whoever is tested and remains patient, then that is very good.

Avoiding Doubtful Matters
① Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما narrates that the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم placed the fingers of one hand into the fingers of the other hand and said:
كيف أنت يا عبد الله بن عمر إذا بقيت فى حثالة قد مرجت عهودهم وأماناتهم واختلفوا فصاروا هكذا
O Abdullah ibn Umar! What will be your condition when you become among the lowest of people, and their covenants and trusts become mixed up, they will differ among themselves and become like this (he showed by interlocking fingers)?
He asked: Then what should I do, O Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم? The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
تأخذ ما تعرف، وتدع ما تنكر، وتقبل على خاصتك وتدعهم وعوامهم
Take what you know and leave what you do not know, accept what is specific and leave what is general.

Eradicating Evil
① Sayyiduna Abu Saeed Khudri رضي الله عنه narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say:
من رأى منكم منكرا فليغيره بيده فإن لم يستطع فبلسانه فإن لم يستطع فبقلبه وذلك أضعف الإيمان
Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart—and that is the weakest level of faith.

② Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah رضي الله عنه narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say:
ما من رجل يكون فى قوم يعمل فيهم بالمعاصي يقدرون على أن يغيروا عليه ولا يغيروا إلا أصابهم الله منه بعقاب قبل أن يموتوا
If there is a person among a people who commits a sin and they are able to change him but do not, then Allah will afflict them with punishment before their death because of that.
