This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, which has been translated into Urdu by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
① It is narrated from the noble companion, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
إنه ليغان على قلبي وإني لأستغفر الله فى اليوم مائة مرة
"A burden is placed upon my heart, and indeed I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day."

② Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
والله إني لأستغفر الله وأتوب إليه فى اليوم أكثر من سبعين مرة
"By Allah! I seek forgiveness from Allah more than seventy times a day and turn to Him in repentance."

③ Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them, narrates that we used to hear the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, recite this supplication a hundred times in one gathering:
رب اغفر لي وتب على إنك أنت التواب الرحيم
"O my Lord! Forgive me and accept my repentance, indeed You are the One who accepts repentance and is Merciful."

④ Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
من لزم الإستغفار جعل الله له من كل ضيق مخرجا ومن كل هم فرجا ورزقه من حيث لا يحتسب
"Whoever makes seeking forgiveness obligatory upon himself, Allah will make a way out for him from every difficulty, relieve him from every sorrow, and provide for him from sources he could never imagine."
Reference: Abu Dawood, Chapter on the Virtue of Seeking Forgiveness 1518, its chain is weak because it contains Hukm bin Mus'ab, an unknown narrator.
⑤ Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
والذي نفسي بيده لو لم تذنبوا لذهب الله بكم ولجاء بقوم يذنبون فيستغفرون الله تعالى فيغفر لهم
"By the One in Whose hand is my soul! If you did not sin, Allah would replace you with a people who would sin and then seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would forgive them."

⑥ Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
من قال: أستغفر الله الذى لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم وأتوب إليه غفرت ذنوبه وإن كان قد فر من الزحف
"Whoever recites this supplication: I seek forgiveness from Allah, besides Whom there is no deity, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I repent to Him, his sins will be forgiven, even if he fled from the battlefield."

⑦ Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said:
سيد الإستغفار أن يقول العبد: اللهم أنت ربي لا إله إلا أنت خلقتني وأنا عبدك وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك على وأبوء بذنبي فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت. من قالها بالنهار موقنا بها فمات من يومه قبل أن يمسي فهو من أهل الجنة ومن قالها من الليل وهو موقن بها فمات قبل أن يصبح فهو من أهل الجنة
"The best form of seeking forgiveness is that a servant says: O Allah! You are my Lord, there is no deity except You. You created me, and I am Your servant. I uphold Your covenant and promise as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I confess my sins. So forgive me, for none forgives sins except You. Whoever recites these words during the day with certainty and dies before evening will be among the people of Paradise, and whoever recites them at night and dies before morning will be among the people of Paradise."

① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
والله إني لأستغفر الله وأتوب إليه فى اليوم مائة مرة
"By Allah! I seek Allah's forgiveness and repent to Him a hundred times a day."
Reference: Ibn Majah, Book of Manners, Chapter on Seeking Forgiveness 6307, in which instead of "a hundred times" it mentions "seventy times," see Fath al-Bari 85/11.
② Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
لله أفرح بتوبة عبده المؤمن من رجل نزل فى أرض دوية مهلكة معه راحلته عليها طعامه وشرابه فوضع رأسه فنام نومة فاستيقظ وقد ذهبت راحلته فطلبها حتى إذا اشتد عليه الحر والعطش أو ما شاء الله قال: أرجع إلى مكاني الذى كنت فيه فأنام حتى أموت فوضع رأسه على ساعده ليموت فاستيقظ فإذا راحلته عنده عليها زاده وشرابه فالله أشد فرحا بتوبة العبد المؤمن من هذا براحلته وزاده
"Allah feels more joy over the repentance of His believing servant than a person who had set up camp on a land unsuitable for staying and afflicted with deadly diseases, who had a mount on which he used to eat and drink. He laid his head down and fell into a deep sleep. When he woke up, he saw that his mount was missing. He went out searching for it until the heat and thirst became intense, or Allah wills otherwise. He says: I will return to the place where I first camped and sleep there until I die. He lays his head on his arm to die. Then he wakes up and sees his mount standing before him with his provisions and water on it (so he becomes happy). Allah is more joyful over the repentance of the believing servant than this person's happiness upon finding his mount."

③ It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
من تاب قبل طلوع الشمس من مغربها تاب الله عليه
"Whoever repents before the sun rises from the west, Allah will accept his repentance."

④ It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
إن الله يبسط يده بالليل ليتوب مسيء النهار ويبسط يده بالنهار ليتوب مسيء الليل حتى تطلع الشمس من مغربها
"Allah extends His hand at night so that the one who errs during the day may repent, and He extends His hand during the day so that the one who errs at night may repent (this continues) until the sun rises from the west."

⑤ It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
إن الله يقبل توبة العبد ما لم يغرغر
"Allah accepts the repentance of a servant until his soul reaches his throat."

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
قال الله تعالى: إذا تقرب عبدي مني شبرا تقربت منه ذراعا وإذا تقرب مني ذراعا تقربت منه باعا أو بوعا وإذا أتاني يمشي أتيته هرولة
"Allah Almighty has said: When My servant comes one cubit near to Me, I come one hand near to him; and when he comes one hand near to Me, I come two hands near to him; and when he comes walking towards Me, I run towards him."
