❖ Question
What is the Sharʿī ruling on collective duʿā after Qur’an lessons and after the obligatory prayers?
❖ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
- There is no evidence in any marfūʿ, connected, authentic ḥadīth for this type of collective duʿā.
- Such a practice was also not found in the era of the Companions or the Tābiʿīn.
- A few weak narrations mention it, but:
✿ Weak narrations are not sufficient to establish regularity (dawām) or strict adherence (iltizām). - Yes, if collective duʿā is done occasionally without strict adherence, there is scope for it.
- But considering collective duʿā to be an integral part of prayer, or thinking that prayer is incomplete without it, is undoubtedly a bidʿah and an addition to the religion — which is never permissible.
Hādhā mā ʿindī, wallāhu aʿlam biṣ-ṣawāb.
