The Prophet ﷺ stated that Imam Mahdi will bear the name “Muhammad” and his father’s name will be “Abdullah,” matching the name of the Prophet’s father:
❝ The world will not end until a man from my household rules over the Arabs, whose name will be the same as mine. ❞

❝ Al-Mahdi will be from my family, from the descendants of Fatimah. ❞

❝ A group of my Ummah will continue to fight for the truth until ‘Isa ibn Maryam descends. Then the leader among them, Imam Mahdi, will lead the prayer. ❞

Alḥamdulillāh! The emergence of Imam Mahdi is mentioned in Hadith and is considered one of the major signs of the Day of Judgment. While the Qur’an does not explicitly mention Imam Mahdi, the Prophet ﷺ has described in several Hadiths that Imam Mahdi will appear before the Hour and will establish justice and fairness across the earth.➊ Imam Mahdi in Hadith

➍ Establishment of His Rule
His leadership will be divinely ordained in a single night, and people will pledge allegiance to him:❝ Mahdi is one of us, from the Ahl al-Bayt. Allah will set his matter right in one night. ❞

➎ Allegiance at the Sacred Mosque
His allegiance will be pledged between the Black Stone and the Maqam Ibrahim in Masjid al-Haram. An army sent to suppress him will be swallowed by the earth at Bayda’:❝ After the death of a caliph, there will be disagreement among the people. A man from Banu Hashim will come to Makkah, and people will pledge allegiance to him between the Black Stone and the Maqam Ibrahim. An army from Syria will march against him, but the earth will swallow them at Bayda’. ❞

➏ Descent of ‘Isa عليه السلام and Leadership of Imam Mahdi
During his reign, Prophet ‘Isa عليه السلام will descend from the heavens, and Imam Mahdi will lead the prayer with him:❝ A group of my Ummah will continue to fight for the truth until ‘Isa ibn Maryam descends. Then the leader among them, Imam Mahdi, will lead the prayer. ❞
