Is It Permissible to Say “Allah Is Asking About Your Condition”? – Shar‘ī Guidance
Taken from: Fatāwā Arkān-e-Islām
Is it allowed to say: “Allah is asking about your condition”? What is the Shar‘ī ruling on such words?
Alḥamdulillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ‘alā Rasūlillāh. Ammā ba‘d:
Using phrases like:
“Allah is asking about your condition” (“Allāh āp kā ḥāl pūchhtā hai”)
is not permissible in Islamic teachings.
✖ This kind of expression may imply — even unintentionally — that:
➤ Allah ﷻ lacks knowledge of someone’s condition,
➤ And is therefore “asking” to find out.
✖ This contradicts the core belief of Islam that:
➤ Allah ﷻ possesses complete, perfect, and eternal knowledge.
➤ Nothing is hidden from Him, neither in the heavens nor the earth.
Even if the speaker does not intend disrespect, such words can still carry meanings that are inconsistent with Allah’s sublime attributes — and that is dangerous and impermissible.
It is obligatory to avoid any expressions that may:
◈ Imply ignorance in Allah’s knowledge,
◈ Lead to theological misunderstanding,
◈ Or create even the slightest doubt regarding His perfect attributes.
Instead of using problematic expressions, choose respectful and appropriate supplicatory words, such as:
✿ “I pray that Allah protects you.”
✿ “May Allah grant you His mercy and kindness.”
✿ “I ask Allah to bestow His grace upon you.”
These statements are:
— Du‘ā-based,
— Theologically sound,
— And fully in accordance with the majesty of Allah ﷻ.
هٰذَا مَا عِندِي، وَاللّٰهُ أَعْلَمُ بِالصَّوَاب
This is what I hold to be correct. And Allah knows best what is right.
