A person prays Fajr and remains seated in remembrance of Allāh until sunrise. After sunrise, he goes to sleep and wakes up around 9 a.m. and then performs Ṣalāt al-Ishrāq. Is his Ishrāq prayer valid in this case?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʿammā baʿd!
Yes, in this case the Ṣalāt al-Ishrāq is valid. Performing it at 9 a.m. after waking from sleep is correct.
However, it is better and more virtuous to perform the Ishrāq prayer before going to sleep, shortly after the sun has risen.
