Written by: Ash-Sheikh Mubashir Ahmad Rabbani (may Allah preserve him)
"Your Lord is amazed by a shepherd on the top of a mountain, who tends to his flock and calls the Adhan for prayer, and then performs the prayer. Allah, the Exalted, says: 'Look at My servant; he calls the Adhan and Iqamah for prayer out of fear of Me. I have forgiven My servant and admitted him to Paradise.'" [Abu Dawud, Book of the Prayer of the Traveler: Chapter on the Adhan in Travel 1203]
This authentic Hadith shows that when a person prays alone, they can call the Adhan and Iqamah. Doing so becomes a means of earning forgiveness and entering Paradise.
Question:
Can a person praying alone call the Adhan and Iqamah for their own prayer?Answer:
If a person is praying alone, they may indeed call the Adhan and Iqamah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:"Your Lord is amazed by a shepherd on the top of a mountain, who tends to his flock and calls the Adhan for prayer, and then performs the prayer. Allah, the Exalted, says: 'Look at My servant; he calls the Adhan and Iqamah for prayer out of fear of Me. I have forgiven My servant and admitted him to Paradise.'"
