Can a Woman Marry Her Husband Again After Khula?

Reference: Shumara al-Sunnah, Jhelum

Answer:
Khula
means that a woman annuls and terminates the marriage contract established by her guardian. After Khul‘, she returns to her pre-marital status, and therefore, she may remarry her former husband at any time.

If she intends to marry someone else, she must observe a waiting period (‘iddah) of one menstrual cycle.

Imam Maymun bin Mihran رحمه الله said:
إذا قبل منها زوجها الفدية ثم خطبها بعد ذلك قال: يتزوجها ويسمي لها مهرا جديدا
“If the husband accepts the compensation (in Khul‘) and later proposes marriage again, it was said: he may marry her with a new dowry.”
[Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah: 5/121 – Chain is sound]
