❖ Question
Is it permissible for a non-maḥram man to see the face of a deceased woman?
Or can a non-maḥram woman see the face of a deceased man?
❖ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd:
The aḥādīth prohibiting a non-maḥram from looking at the opposite gender are general in nature.
These apply both to the living and to the deceased.
Therefore:
- A non-maḥram man is not permitted to see the face of a deceased woman.
- Likewise, a non-maḥram woman is not permitted to see the face of a deceased man.
Hādhā mā ʿindī, wallāhu aʿlam bis-ṣawāb.
