If a man falsely claimed a noble lineage and got married, can the Nikāḥ (marriage) be annulled?
If all the conditions of Nikāḥ were fulfilled, then the marriage is valid in Sharīʿah. Now, if the woman no longer wishes to live with her husband, she may seek annulment through khulʿ (خلع). However, merely based on tribal or caste differences, seeking khulʿ or demanding a divorce is not permissible.
The true criterion of superiority in Islam is not noble lineage, but piety (taqwā).
Surah al-Ḥujurāt: 13
“And We made you into nations and tribes so that you may recognize one another. Indeed, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the one who is most God-conscious. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.”
✔ If the marriage contract was completed with valid Sharʿī conditions, it remains intact.
✔ The woman may opt for khulʿ if she is unwilling to stay in the marriage.
✔ However, seeking annulment just because of tribal or caste background is not valid in Islam.
✔ Piety, not lineage, is the true measure of honor in Islam.
