﴿وَحَلَائِلُ أَبْنَائِكُمُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ أَصْلَابِكُمْ﴾
(Surah an-Nisa: 23)
"And [forbidden to you are] the wives of your sons who are from your own loins."
Therefore, a father-in-law can never marry his daughter-in-law under any circumstance.
❖ The Question:
Is it permissible for a father to marry the wife of his deceased or divorced son—i.e., his former daughter-in-law?❖ The Answer:
It is not permissible for a father to marry his son’s wife, even if the son has passed away or has divorced her. Such a marriage is explicitly forbidden in Islamic law. Allah Almighty states in the Qur’an:﴿وَحَلَائِلُ أَبْنَائِكُمُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ أَصْلَابِكُمْ﴾
(Surah an-Nisa: 23)
"And [forbidden to you are] the wives of your sons who are from your own loins."
Therefore, a father-in-law can never marry his daughter-in-law under any circumstance.
