โ Written by: Qari Usama bin Abdul Salam
"The eyes that indulge in immodesty on social media will be cast down in shame on the Day of Judgment, and in this world, the pure lawful pleasures will be snatched from their hearts. For when the heart is filled with the unlawful, the lawful begins to taste bland.โ
โ Tuwailibah Tul Elim
This statement is not merely advice; it is a bitter yet truthful reflection of our society. Today, people โ especially the youth โ are ensnared in a fitnah unlike any seen before: the overwhelming indecency spread on social media.
A single glance is not just โone look.โ It leaves a wound on the heart, a wound that deepens with time until the heartโs softness dies.
The consequences:
โ Worship loses its sweetness
โ Lawful love seems tasteless
โ Pure relationships lose their attraction
โ The heart becomes saturated with sin, and the light of faith begins to fade
On that Day, a personโs limbs will testify against him โ his tongue, his hands, his feet, and even his eyes.

(Surah al-Nur: 24)
Whatever we consume on social media is being stored โ not only in our devices but also in our Book of Deeds. These very deeds will be the cause of shame and humiliation on the Day of Judgment.
Our eyes were meant to be windows to the recognition of Allah, yet we have turned them into tools of sinful pleasure.
When the unlawful becomes normal, the lawful begins to feel meaningless. This is why:
To protect ourselves and our youth from this destructive path, we must:
โ Guard our gaze
โ Use social media with caution
โ Strive for religious awareness and spiritual purity
โ Encourage the youth towards positive and pure activities
Hayฤ (modesty) is a branch of faith.
When modesty vanishes, faith weakens.
When faith weakens, sins begin to feel attractive.
Betrayal of the Eyes: Social Media and Our Moral Collapse

โ The Reality of the Fitnah
- Indecent pictures, immoral videos, and shameless content are easily accessible.
- The painful reality is that sins are no longer hidden โ they are committed openly and with pride.
A single glance is not just โone look.โ It leaves a wound on the heart, a wound that deepens with time until the heartโs softness dies.
The consequences:
โ Worship loses its sweetness
โ Lawful love seems tasteless
โ Pure relationships lose their attraction

Testimony on the Day of Judgment
On that Day, a personโs limbs will testify against him โ his tongue, his hands, his feet, and even his eyes.

The Tragedy of Misusing the Eyes
Our eyes were meant to be windows to the recognition of Allah, yet we have turned them into tools of sinful pleasure.
When the unlawful becomes normal, the lawful begins to feel meaningless. This is why:
- Divorce rates are rising
- Relationships are breaking apart
- Love brings confusion instead of peace
The Solution
To protect ourselves and our youth from this destructive path, we must:
โ Guard our gaze
โ Use social media with caution
โ Strive for religious awareness and spiritual purity
โ Encourage the youth towards positive and pure activities
Final Reminder
Hayฤ (modesty) is a branch of faith.
When modesty vanishes, faith weakens.
When faith weakens, sins begin to feel attractive.
