"Whoever consumes these foul-smelling items should not come to our mosque, because the things that harm people also harm the angels."
Believing in the existence of angels and having faith in them is one of the fundamental principles of faith (Iman). Belief in angels means acknowledging their existence and holding the conviction that they are creations of Allah, obedient to Him, and responsible for carrying out various tasks assigned to them. Allah has appointed them to manage the affairs of His vast kingdom. They have been created from light, as mentioned in the hadith:
"Allah created the angels from light." [Sahih Muslim, Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer: 7495]
Hadith:
"Indeed, the angels are harmed by the same things that harm the children of Adam." [Sahih Muslim, Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer: 1254]Explanation and Benefits:
The background of this hadith is that on one occasion, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating onions, garlic, and leek. The companions mentioned that, due to necessity, they needed to consume them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then said:"Whoever consumes these foul-smelling items should not come to our mosque, because the things that harm people also harm the angels."
