Ruling on Bathing After Entering into Iḥrām and Explanation of the Sunnah
Extracted from: Fatāwā Arkān-e-Islām
What is the Shar‘i ruling regarding a person in the state of Iḥrām (Muḥrim) taking a bath after donning Iḥrām?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd...
✔ It is permissible for a Muḥrim (one in the state of Iḥrām) to take a bath, and there is no prohibition or restriction on this act.
✔ This practice is established from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and therefore there is no harm in bathing while in Iḥrām.
✔ Whether a Muḥrim bathes once or more than once, both situations are permissible.
If the Muḥrim experiences a wet dream (iḥtilām) or enters a state of janābah, then:
◈ Ghusl becomes obligatory upon him, even while in Iḥrām.
As for bathing prior to donning Iḥrām, this is:
◈ Sunnah and a recommended (mustaḥabb) practice,
◈ But it is not obligatory.
