Is Khabar al-Wāḥid (Solitary Report) a Proof?

Question:
Is Khabar al-Wāḥid considered a proof in Islam?
Answer:
If the chain of Khabar al-Wāḥid is authentic, then by consensus it is a valid proof, whether the Hadith relates to ʿAqīdah (beliefs), rulings, or virtues.
❀ ʿAllāmah Ibn Rushayd Fahri رحمه الله (d. 721H) said:
إن أخبار الآحاد حجة يجب العمل بها بالإجماع فى الجملة.
"The reports of a solitary narrator are a proof, and acting upon them is obligatory by consensus, in general."
(Al-Sunan al-Abīn: 89)
