Source: Aḥkām wa Masāʾil – Bāb al-Ṣalāh, Vol. 1, p. 162

Question:

If a person catches the rukūʿ, does that mean he has attained the prayer? As it is narrated in a ḥadīth:
"Whoever catches the rukūʿ has attained the prayer."
Please clarify in detail whether this narration is authentic.

Answer:

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!

✿ The narration “Whoever catches the rukūʿ has attained the prayer” — all the marfūʿ reports (attributed directly to the Prophet ﷺ) with this wording are weak (ḍaʿīf).

✿ Therefore, this statement cannot be established from the Prophet ﷺ with any strong or reliable chain of transmission.

Hādhā mā ʿindī, wallāhu aʿlam bi-ṣ-ṣawāb.
