The Hadiths related to Taqbil al-‘Aynayn (kissing the eyes) — specifically the act of kissing the fingers and placing them on the eyes upon hearing the name of the Prophet ﷺ during the Adhan — are all fabricated (mawdu‘) and baseless.✿ Scholarly Evaluations:
- Shaykh Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti in Taysir al-Maqal stated:
"All Hadiths narrated regarding kissing the fingers and placing them on the eyes upon hearing the name of the Prophet ﷺ during the testimony in the Adhan are fabricated." - Mulla ‘Ali al-Qari, in his treatise on fabricated Hadiths (Risalah Mawdu‘at), also declared these Hadiths baseless.
- Shah ‘Abd al-‘Aziz Muhaddith Dehlawi and Hasan ‘Ali Muhaddith Lakhnawi similarly categorized the Hadiths of Taqbil al-‘Aynayn as unreliable, and regarded practicing it as bid‘ah if done believing it to be Sunnah.
- Imam al-Shawkani affirmed in Majma‘ al-Bihar that the Hadiths transmitted on this topic are unreliable, and their narrators are unknown (majhul).
