❖ Question:

Are there messengers from among the jinn?

❖ Answer:

Messengers (Rusul) have only been sent from among humans. There are no messengers from among the jinn.

Allah Almighty says:

"O assembly of jinn and men! Did there not come to you messengers from among yourselves, reciting to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "We bear witness against ourselves." And the worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers."
[Sūrah al-Anʿām: 130]

Some interpret this verse to mean that messengers may have been sent from among the jinn as well, since Allah uses the phrase "رُسُلٌ مِّنكُمْ" (messengers from among you) — implying inclusivity of both jinn and humans.

However, Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr (رحمه الله) clarified this misconception:

"The meaning of 'رُسُلٌ مِّنكُمْ' is: [messengers] sent to you, O assembly of jinn and mankind. The messengers are only from among humans — not from the jinn."**

Conclusion:
The messengers are only humans, sent to both humans and jinn. Jinn are not appointed as messengers by Allah.
