Yes.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"إِنَّ لِهَذِهِ الْبُيُوتِ عَوَامِرَ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ شَيْئًا مِنْهَا فَحَرِّجُوا عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، فَإِنْ ذَهَبَ وَإِلَّا فَاقْتُلُوهُ فَإِنَّهُ كَافِرٌ"
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Ḥadīth No. 2263]
“Indeed, there are inhabitants (jinn) that dwell in these houses. So, when you see something among them, warn it three times. If it departs, then fine. If not, then kill it, for it is a disbeliever.”
In another narration, the Prophet ﷺ said:
"إِنَّ بِالْمَدِينَةِ نَفَرًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ قَدْ أَسْلَمُوا، فَمَنْ رَأَى شَيْئًا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْعَوَامِرِ فَلْيُؤْذِنْهُ ثَلَاثًا، فَإِنْ بَدَا لَهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَقْتُلْهُ، فَإِنَّهُ شَيْطَانٌ"
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Ḥadīth No. 2236]
“Indeed, a group of jinn in Madinah has accepted Islam. So, whoever sees one of these dwellers (in their home), let him notify it three times. If it appears after that, then let him kill it, for it is a Shayṭān.”
These narrations confirm that some jinn dwell in homes, but if they are among those who have accepted Islam, they should be given a chance to leave. If not, and they persist, they are to be dealt with as enemies, for they are evil Shayāṭīn.
❀ Are Jinn Present in Every House?
