Is using foul language from Shaytan?
Answer:
Yes, it is!
It is narrated from Sulaiman bin Surad رضی اللہ عنہ that he said: Two men exchanged insults in the presence of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم while we were sitting with him. One of them, in a state of anger, was verbally abusing the other, and his face turned red. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
『إني لأعلم كلمة لو قالها لذهب عنه ما يجد، لو قال أعود بالله من الشيطان الرجيم』
“I know a word, which if he were to say, what he feels would go away. If he were to say, ‘I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Shaytan,’ then it would leave him.” They said to him, “Do you not hear what the Prophet is saying?” He said, “I am not insane.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith no. 5764; Sahih Muslim 2610]
From this, it is clear that anger indeed comes from Shaytan, and reciting “أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم” dispels it.
