"The pen has been lifted from three people..."
[Sunan Abi Dawood, Hadith No. 4403]
Among the three mentioned, the insane person is included until their insanity ends, and their mind returns to a sound state.
However, even though religious obligations are lifted from them, if they cause financial harm or damage to others, they are still responsible for compensating that loss (Ta’wan).

Key Point:
The Removal of Religious Obligations from an Insane Person
Islamic obligations (Taklif) are lifted from an insane person because of the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ):"The pen has been lifted from three people..."
[Al-Lajnah ad-Daimah: 8420]
Key Point:
- No religious obligations apply to an insane person during their condition.
- They remain accountable for any financial harm they cause to others.
