However, as for the ruling attributed to ʿAllāmah al-Albānī declaring this narration to be ḥasan, it should be clearly remembered that ʿAllāmah al-Albānī later retracted this view.
He has explicitly declared this narration to be weak (ḍaʿīf) in the following works:
◈ Sunan Abī Dāwūd (5105)
◈ Sunan al-Tirmidhī (1514), published by Maktabah al-Maʿārif, Riyadh
◈ Silsilah al-Aḥādīth al-Ḍaʿīfah (New Edition, 1/493)
◈ Badāyat al-Ruwāh (4085)

Question:
In the May 2005 issue of a monthly magazine published from Lahore, while discussing the practice of calling the Adhān in the ear of a newborn, a narration attributed to Abū Rāfi‘ah is cited. It is written there that ʿAllāmah al-Albānī declared this narration to be ḥasan. Is this claim correct and accurate?Answer:
Regarding the issue of calling the Adhān in the ear of a newborn, the present writer has already authored a fairly detailed article. For this, please refer to “Your Issues and Their Solutions in the Light of the Qur’an and Sunnah,” Volume Three.

✔ “Tarājuʿ al-ʿAllāmah al-Albānī” by Shaykh Abū al-Ḥasan Muḥammad Ḥasan al-Shaykh
Conclusion:
Therefore, attributing the ruling of ḥasan to this narration and ascribing it to ʿAllāmah al-Albānī is incorrect in every respect, as he himself has clearly stated its weakness. And all praise is due to Allah alone. ✔
