Ibn Qudamah was one of the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah, He authored
Lum‘at al-I‘tiqad, a well-known Salafi text affirming Allah’s Names and Attributes without ta‘til, tahrif, takyif, or tamthil, in line with the methodology of the Salaf.
What Is Al-Mughni?
Al-Mughni is a comprehensive classical book of
fiqh authored by Imam Ibn Qudamah رحمه الله, presenting Hanbali jurisprudence with
comparative discussion, evidences from the
Quran, Sunnah, and statements of the Salaf.
Yes, it is a beneficial and recommended book, however it
must not be followed blindly. The Salafi manhaj is to
reject blind taqlid of any individual scholar, whether Imam Abu Hanifah, Imam Ahmad, Ibn Taymiyyah, or Ibn Baz رحمه الله.
Allah says:
﴿اتَّبِعُوا مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ﴾
"Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord."
[Surah al-A‘raf 7:3]
We accept from scholars what is
in accordance with the Quran and authentic Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf, and we leave whatever opposes it, while still honoring and benefiting from their knowledge.
