Advice to Keep Away from the Deniers of the Punishment of the Grave

Written by:
Muḥammad Arshad Kamāl

It is narrated from ʿAbdullāh al-Danāj (may Allāh have mercy upon him) that he was present with Sayyidunā Anas ibn Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him) when a man said to him:
“O Abū Ḥamzah! Indeed, there are some people who deny the punishment of the grave. What advice do you have for us regarding them?”

Sayyidunā Anas (may Allāh be pleased with him) replied:
“Do not sit with them.”
(Ithbāt ʿAdhāb al-Qabr by al-Bayhaqī: 258, its chain is authentic; another version: 230)

From this narration, it is evident that even in the era of the Companions (may Allāh be pleased with them), such misguided individuals emerged who denied the punishment of the grave.
The noble Companions (may Allāh be pleased with them) advised the general public to avoid their gatherings and assemblies.
We too should heed the advice of the noble Companions and refrain from the company and gatherings of such deviants.
