Question:
Is it permissible for a woman to sleep in her private room permanently, provided she does not deprive her husband of his Islamic rights?
Answer:
If the husband consents to this arrangement, there is no issue, provided that the private room is peaceful and suitable. However, if the husband does not agree, the wife does not have the right to insist on such separation, as it goes against common custom and marital norms.
An exception to this is if the wife, at the time of the marriage contract, stipulated that she prefers not to share a room at night with anyone, for a specific reason. In such a case, this condition is binding because, in Islam, “Muslims are bound by their conditions.”
