❖ A Weak Report Concerning the Time of the Prophet’s ﷺ Birth

✿ The Narration:
Ibn Saʿd reports from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who narrates that Sayyidah Āminah, the noble mother of the Prophet ﷺ, said:
*"At the time of the Prophet’s ﷺ birth, a light emerged from my womb which illuminated the palaces of al-Shām (Syria).
The Prophet ﷺ was born pure and clean, without any impurity or filth upon him.
When I placed him on the ground, he sat down on his hands for support."*
❖ Authentication of the Narration:
Status of the Chain: Its chain is weak.

✿ Reason for Weakness:
① The narration is from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who was born several generations after the Prophet ﷺ.
② He narrates this report without any chain (i.e., no intermediary or source is mentioned). Such disconnected narrations, especially concerning historical events, are classified as mursal or muʿḍal, and thus considered weak.
③ There is no indication of how Isḥāq could have direct or reliable knowledge of this event, which occurred centuries before him.
❖ Conclusion:
This narration about the light emanating from Sayyidah Āminah’s womb at the Prophet’s ﷺ birth and his miraculous posture is not authentically established, as it suffers from severe weakness due to disconnection and lack of chain.
While such narrations may be popularly quoted, especially in seerah literature, they should be presented only with the clarification of their weak status and not relied upon as proof in religious or theological discussions.
