✿ The Most Important Means of Protection
The most important way to protect oneself from magic is through the Sharʿī adhkār (remembrances) and Sunnah supplications that are prescribed in the Shariʿah. Here are some of the most important ones:
➊ Recitation of Āyat al-Kursī
✔ After every obligatory prayer: Recite Āyat al-Kursī after every fard prayer.
✔ Before sleeping at night: Recite it with special care.
(Sūrah al-Baqarah: 255)
✔ Virtue:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites Āyat al-Kursī at night, Allah appoints a protector for him and no devil will come near him until morning.”
(Saḥīḥ Ḥadīth)
➋ Reciting Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ, Sūrah al-Falaq, and Sūrah al-Nās
✔ After every obligatory prayer: Recite these once.
✔ After Fajr and Maghrib: Develop the habit of reciting them three times.
➌ The Last Two Verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah
Recite these at the beginning of the night:
(Sūrah al-Baqarah: 285-286)
✔ Virtue:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites the last two verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him against every harm.”
(Saḥīḥ Ḥadīth)
➍ Supplication for Seeking Allah’s Protection
Recite at any time of the day or night, in any place:
“I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.”
✔ Virtue:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites this supplication, nothing will harm him.”
(Saḥīḥ Ḥadīth)
➎ Supplication for Safety
Recite this three times at the start of the day and night:
“In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the earth or in the sky can cause harm. He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”
➏ Supplications for Healing
If magic has already affected a person, these Sunnah supplications should be recited:
✔ The Prophet’s ﷺ Supplication:
“O Allah, Lord of the people, remove the harm and heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing—a healing that leaves no disease behind.”
✔ The Supplication of Jibrīl (عليه السلام):
“In the name of Allah, I recite over you (for healing) from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul and the envy of every jealous eye. May Allah heal you. In the name of Allah, I recite over you.”
✿ Conclusion:
✔ A Muslim should recite these adhkār and supplications regularly with faith and conviction.
✔ These practices are a powerful means of protection against magic and all evils.
✔ Reliance upon Allah and persistence in these acts of worship is the strongest weapon of all.
And Allah ﷻ knows best.
