① The Whole Earth Made as a Mosque
Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"The whole earth has been made for me a place of prayer and its soil a purifier, so whenever the time of prayer comes upon anyone of my Ummah, let him pray."
(al-Bukhārī, 335; Muslim, 521)
Explanation:
This is a special favor for the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ, as previous nations were restricted to certain places for prayer. However, this excludes locations where prayer is prohibited, such as:
- Graveyards
- Bathrooms
- Camel enclosures
② Building a Mosque for Allah’s Pleasure
ʿUthmān (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Whoever builds a mosque, seeking thereby Allah’s pleasure, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
(al-Bukhārī, 450; Muslim, 533)
Note: The intention must be purely for Allah’s pleasure, not for fame or showing off.
③ The Most Beloved Places to Allah
Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"The most beloved places to Allah are the mosques, and the most hated places to Allah are the markets."
(Muslim, 671)
Mosques are beloved because they are places of:
- Worship of Allah
- Qur’an recitation and dhikr
- Learning and spiritual growth
Markets are disliked due to:
- Greed and deception
- Worldly distractions and dishonesty
④ The Virtue of Going to the Mosque Morning and Evening
Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Whoever goes to the mosque in the morning or evening, Allah will prepare for him a place of hospitality in Paradise every time he goes."
(al-Bukhārī, 662; Muslim, 669)
Attending the mosque regularly is a cause for honor and reward in the Hereafter.
⑤ Allah’s Special Neighbors on the Day of Judgment
Anas (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"On the Day of Judgment, Allah will call: ‘Where are My neighbors? Where are My neighbors?’ The angels will ask: ‘Who is worthy of being Your neighbor, O Lord?’ Allah will say: ‘Those who used to frequent the mosques.’"
(al-Albānī, al-Silsilah al-Ṣaḥīḥah, 2728)
Meaning: Those who regularly attend the mosque and contribute to its upkeep will be granted a special status of closeness to Allah.
