① The Prophet’s ﷺ Qawmah
Sayyiduna Abu Humaid al-Sa‘idi رضي الله عنه narrated:
"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would raise his head from ruku‘, he would stand upright until every bone returned to its place."
(Bukhari: 828)
② Tranquility in Qawmah is Obligatory
Sayyiduna Abu Mas‘ud al-Ansari رضي الله عنه reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"A man’s prayer is not valid until he straightens his back in ruku‘ and sujood (and after raising from them in standing or sitting)."
(Abu Dawood: 858, Tirmidhi: 262 — graded Sahih by al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Hibban)
③ Duration of Qawmah
Sayyiduna al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib رضي الله عنه said:
"The ruku‘ of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, his sujood, his sitting between the two prostrations, and his standing after ruku‘ were nearly equal in duration, except for the standing before ruku‘ and the sitting in Tashahhud."
(Bukhari: 792, Muslim: 471)
④ Lengthy Qawmah
"The Prophet ﷺ would stand in qawmah for so long that someone would think he had forgotten."
(Bukhari: 821, Muslim: 472)
⑤ Du‘as in Qawmah
a) Short Praise
When the Imam says:
The follower says:
(Muslim: 392)
b) Abundant Praise
Narrated by Rifa‘ah ibn Rafi‘ رضي الله عنه — the Prophet ﷺ mentioned angels rushing to write these words.
(Bukhari: 799)
c) Full Praise
(Muslim: 474)
d) Detailed Praise
(Muslim: 477)
e) Purification & Forgiveness
(Muslim: 474)
