✦ The Impact and Excellence of the Noble Qur’an ✦​


❖ Introduction​


إن الحمد لله نحمده، ونستعينه، من يهده الله فلا مضل له، ومن يضلل فلا هادي له، وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، وأن محمدًا عبده ورسوله، أما بعد:


◈ Chapter: The Impact of the Qur’an​


(قرآن مجید کی تاثیر کا بیان)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿لَوْ أَنزَلْنَا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ لَّرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُّتَصَدِّعًا مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ﴾
📚 (Al-Hashr: 21)
“If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah.”


Allah Almighty also says:


﴿وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ تَرَىٰ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا مِنَ الْحَقِّ ۖ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ﴾
📚 (Al-Mā’idah: 83)
“When they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they recognize of the truth. They say, ‘Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.’”


❖ Hadith ①​


From ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنهما:
Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه said: “O Messenger of Allah! Your hair has turned gray.”
The Prophet ﷺ replied:
“Sūrah Hūd, al-Wāqiʿah, al-Mursalāt, ʿAmma Yatasa’alūn, and Idhā al-Shamsu Kuwwirat have made me old.”

❖ Hadith ②​


From ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنهما:
“The Prophet ﷺ recited Surah al-Najm and prostrated. The Muslims, polytheists, jinn, and mankind all prostrated with him.”

❖ Hadith ③​


A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said:
“O Messenger of Allah! I saw in a dream a cloud dripping ghee and honey. People were catching it in their hands – some took much, others little...”
Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه sought permission to interpret:
“The cloud is Islam, and the dripping ghee and honey represent the sweetness and gentleness of the Qur’an. People catching it represent how much each person recites of the Qur’an – some more, some less.”

◈ Chapter: The Virtues of the Noble Qur’an​


(قرآن مجید کے فضائل کا بیان)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ. وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ. لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ﴾
📚 (Al-Qadr: 1–3)
“Indeed, We sent it down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.”


Allah Almighty says:


﴿وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَا أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ الْكِتَابِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ يَعِظُكُم بِهِ﴾
📚 (Al-Baqarah: 231)
“Remember Allah’s favor upon you and what He has revealed to you from the Book and wisdom by which He instructs you.”


Allah Almighty says:


﴿الم. ذَٰلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيهِ ۛ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ﴾
📚 (Al-Baqarah: 1–2)
“Alif-Lām-Mīm. This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for the God-fearing.”


❖ Hadith ④​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“In place of the Torah, I was given the seven long Sūrahs; in place of the Psalms, the Mi’īn; and in place of the Gospel, the Mathānī; and I was preferred with the Mufaṣṣal Sūrahs.”

❖ Hadith ⑤​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Recite the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Judgment.”

❖ Hadith ⑥​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The Qur’an is an intercessor whose intercession is accepted. Whoever places it ahead of him, it will lead him to Paradise; whoever throws it behind his back, it will drag him to Hellfire.”

❖ Hadith ⑦​


ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd رضي الله عنه said:
“Whoever seeks knowledge should delve into the Qur’an – for in it is the knowledge of the former and later peoples.”

❖ Hadith ⑧​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“I leave behind two things: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah – you will never go astray if you hold on to them.”

❖ Hadith ⑨​


ʿUmar رضي الله عنه said:
“Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Verily, Allah elevates some people by this Book and debases others by it.’”

❖ Hadith ⑩​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Every Prophet was given miracles that caused people to believe, but what I have been given is revelation from Allah, so I hope to have the most followers on the Day of Judgment.”

◈ Chapter: Virtue of Reciting the Noble Qur’an​


(تلاوت قرآن مجید کی فضیلت)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَتْلُونَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَنفَقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً...﴾
📚 (Fāṭir: 29–30)
“Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah, establish prayer, and spend from what We have provided them secretly and openly – they hope for a trade that will never perish. That He may give them in full their rewards and increase them of His bounty.”


Allah Almighty says:


﴿أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ﴾
📚 (Al-Raʿd: 28)
“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”


❖ Hadith ⑪​


A man was reciting Surah al-Kahf with his horse tied nearby. A cloud descended and enveloped him. The horse became agitated. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“That was tranquility which descended due to the recitation of the Qur’an.”

❖ Hadith ⑫​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites a single letter from the Book of Allah gets a reward, and the reward is multiplied tenfold. I do not say ‘Alif-Lām-Mīm’ is one letter, rather Alif is a letter, Lām is a letter, and Mīm is a letter.”

❖ Hadith ⑬​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The example of a believer who recites the Qur’an is that of a citrus fruit – its fragrance and taste are both pleasant. The believer who doesn’t recite is like a date – good taste, no fragrance. The wicked person who recites is like sweet basil – good fragrance, bitter taste. And the wicked person who doesn’t recite is like colocynth – bitter taste, no fragrance.”

❖ Hadith ⑭​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Envy is only justified in two cases: a person whom Allah has given the Qur’an and he recites it during the night; and a person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it during night and day.”

❖ Hadith ⑮​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The one who is proficient in the Qur’an will be with the noble and obedient scribes (angels). And the one who recites it with difficulty and falters will have two rewards.”

❖ Hadith ⑯​


ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd رضي الله عنه said:
“Whoever wishes to love Allah and His Messenger should recite the Qur’an.”

❖ Hadith ⑰​


Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ asked:
“Would any one of you like, upon returning home, to find three large, fat she-camels?”
We said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah!”
He replied:
“Reciting three verses from your prayer is better for you than three large, fat she-camels.”

✦ Chapter: Etiquettes of Reciting the Noble Qur’an​


(تلاوت قرآن مجید کے آداب)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿فَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ الْقُرْآنَ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ﴾
📚 (An-Naḥl: 98)
“So when you recite the Qur’an, seek refuge with Allah.”


﴿وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا﴾
📚 (Al-Muzzammil: 4)
“And recite the Qur’an in a measured, rhythmic tone.”


﴿وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا﴾
📚 (Al-Isrā’: 109)
“And they fall upon their faces weeping, and it increases them in humility.”


❖ Hadith ⑱​


Abu Dharr رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ spent the entire night in prayer, repeating a single verse:
﴿إِن تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ ۖ وَإِن تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ﴾
“If You punish them, they are Your slaves; but if You forgive them, verily You are the Almighty, the All-Wise.”

❖ Hadith ⑲​


Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Allah has not listened to anything more attentively than He listens to a Prophet with a beautiful voice reciting the Qur’an melodiously.”

❖ Hadith ⑳​


ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“One who recites the Qur’an aloud is like one who gives charity openly. One who recites it quietly is like one who gives charity secretly.”

❖ Hadith ㉑​


Ḥudhayfah رضي الله عنه said:
“When the Prophet ﷺ came across a verse of punishment, he would seek refuge with Allah; if he passed a verse of mercy, he would ask for it; and if he came to a verse exalting Allah, he would glorify Him.”

❖ Hadith ㉒​


ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“One who recites the entire Qur’an in less than three days has not understood it.”

✦ Chapter: Rulings Regarding Prostration of Recitation​


(سجدہ تلاوت کے احکام)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ... يَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا... وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا﴾
📚 (Al-Isrā’: 107–109)
“Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it, when it is recited to them, fall upon their faces in prostration, saying, ‘Glory be to our Lord! Truly, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled.’ And they fall upon their faces weeping, and it increases them in humility.”


❖ Hadith ㉓​


Ibn ʿUmar رضي الله عنهما said:
“The Prophet ﷺ would recite a sūrah containing a verse of prostration, and he would prostrate, and we would prostrate with him.”

❖ Hadith ㉔​


ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها said:
“When the Prophet ﷺ would perform the prostration of recitation during night prayer, he would say:
‘My face has prostrated to the One Who created it and shaped its hearing and sight by His power and strength.’”

✦ Chapter: The Virtue of Learning the Noble Qur’an​


(قرآن مجید سیکھنے کی فضیلت)​



Allah Almighty says:


﴿الرَّحْمَٰنُ ‎.‏ عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ . خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ ‎.‏ عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ﴾
📚 (Ar-Raḥmān: 1–4)
“The Most Merciful taught the Qur’an. He created man and taught him eloquence.”


❖ Hadith ㉕​


ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The best among you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.”

❖ Hadith ㉖​


Abū al-Dardāʾ رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever treads a path to seek knowledge, Allah will make the path to Paradise easy for him. The angels lower their wings in approval of the seeker of knowledge. All the creatures in the heavens and earth, even the fish in the water, seek forgiveness for the student of knowledge.”

✦ Chapter: The Virtue of Teaching the Noble Qur’an​


(قرآن مجید سکھانے کی فضیلت)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الْأُمِّيِّينَ... وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ﴾
📚 (Al-Jumuʿah: 2)
“He is the One Who sent among the unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His verses, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, although they were previously in manifest error.”

Hadith ㉗


Abū Hurairah رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever comes to my mosque for no reason other than learning or teaching goodness is like a mujahid in the cause of Allah. And whoever comes for another purpose is like one who looks at others’ possessions.”

❖ Hadith ㉘​


Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”

✦ Chapter: The Virtue of Memorizing the Noble Qur’an​


(قرآن مجید یاد کرنے کی فضیلت)​



Allah Almighty says:


﴿إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ﴾
📚 (Al-Ḥijr: 9)
“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder (the Qur’an), and indeed, We will be its guardian.”


❖ Hadith ㉙​


ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“It will be said to the one who memorized the Qur’an: Recite and rise up (in rank) and recite slowly as you used to in the world, for your rank will be at the last verse you recite.”

✦ Chapter: Maintaining Memorized Qur’an​


(یاد شدہ قرآن کو سنبھالنے کی تاکید)​



Allah Almighty says:


﴿وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِي...﴾
📚 (Ṭā-Hā: 124–126)
“Whoever turns away from My remembrance will have a hard life, and We will raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection...”


❖ Hadith ㉚​


Abū Mūsā رضي الله عنه reported:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Keep refreshing this Qur’an, for by the One in Whose hand is Muhammad’s soul, it slips away faster than a tied camel.”

❖ Hadith ㉛​


Samurah ibn Jundub رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said in a dream:
“The man whose head was being crushed with a rock was one who learned the Qur’an but then abandoned it and neglected the obligatory prayers.”

✦ Chapter: Virtue of Listening and Reciting the Qur’an​


(قرآن سننے اور سنانے کی فضیلت)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ...﴾
📚 (Al-Aʿrāf: 204)
“When the Qur’an is recited, listen to it attentively and remain silent so that you may receive mercy.”


❖ Hadith ㉜​


Usayd ibn Ḥuḍayr رضي الله عنه recited Surah al-Baqarah at night. His horse began to move violently. He stopped and the horse settled. This happened three times. Then he saw a canopy above with lamps. In the morning, he informed the Prophet ﷺ, who said:
“That was tranquility descending with the angels. If you had continued reciting, people would have seen them in the morning.”

✦ Chapter: Virtue for Parents Who Teach Their Children the Qur’an​


(والدین کی فضیلت جو اولاد کو قرآن سکھائیں)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ...﴾
📚 (Al-ʿAlaq: 1–5)
“Read in the name of your Lord Who created... Who taught by the pen... taught man what he knew not.”


❖ Hadith ㉝​


Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The Qur’an will come on the Day of Judgment like a pale man and say: Do you recognize me? I am the one who kept you awake at night and thirsty during the day. You will be crowned, your parents dressed in garments no worldly wealth could equal, and it will be said: This is due to your child learning the Qur’an.”

✦ Chapter: The Qur’an is a Cure​


(قرآن شفا ہے)​



Allah Almighty says:


﴿يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٌ...﴾
📚 (Yūnus: 57)
“O mankind! There has come to you an admonition from your Lord, a healing for what is in the breasts...”


﴿وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ...﴾
📚 (Al-Isrā’: 82)
“We reveal from the Qur’an that which is a healing and mercy for believers...”


﴿قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاءٌ﴾
📚 (Fussilat: 44)
“Say: It is guidance and healing for the believers.”


❖ Hadith ㉞​


Zayd ibn Arqam رضي الله عنه narrated the story of the Prophet ﷺ being afflicted by magic, which was undone through the recitation of the Muʿawwidhatayn (Sūrah al-Falaq & Sūrah al-Nās).

✦ Chapter: The Prophet ﷺ and the Qur’an​


(نبی کریم ﷺ کا قرآن سے تعلق)​


❖ Hadith ㉟​


Muṭarrif reported from his father:
“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying, and from his chest came a sound like a boiling pot due to his weeping.”

❖ Hadith ㊱​


Abu Dharr رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ recited a single verse the entire night in prayer:
﴿إِن تُعَذِّبْهُمْ...﴾
“If You punish them, they are Your slaves...”

✦ Chapter: The Companions رضي الله عنهم and the Qur’an​

❖ Hadith ㊲​


ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها narrated the incident of Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه and his public recitation of the Qur’an in Makkah, and the reaction of Quraysh.

❖ Hadith ㊳​


Ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنهما said:
“The Qur’an reciters were the companions in the gatherings and councils of ʿUmar رضي الله عنه, whether they were old or young.”

✦ Chapter: Punishment for Reciting but Not Acting Upon the Qur’an​


(قرآن پر عمل نہ کرنے کی سزا)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ حُمِّلُوا التَّوْرَاةَ...﴾
📚 (Al-Jumuʿah: 5)
“The example of those entrusted with the Torah, but did not carry it, is like that of a donkey carrying books...”


❖ Hadith ㊴​


Usāmah رضي الله عنه said:
“A man will be brought on the Day of Judgment and thrown into Hell. His intestines will spill out, and he will circle them like a donkey around a millstone. The people will say: Didn’t you used to enjoin good and forbid evil? He will reply: I did, but I did not act upon it myself.”

✦ Chapter: Interpreting the Qur’an According to One’s Own Opinion​


(اپنی رائے سے تفسیر کی ممانعت)​


Allah Almighty says:


﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي آيَاتِنَا...﴾
📚 (Fussilat: 40)
“Indeed, those who deviate concerning Our verses are not hidden from Us...”


❖ Hadith ㊵​


Abū Hurairah رضي الله عنه said:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Arguing about the Qur’an is disbelief.”
