❖ Detailed Clarification in Light of the Qur’an and Sunnah
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allāh. To proceed:
✦ Ruling on Denial of a Single Qur’anic Verse
◈ If a person knowingly and without any valid Shar‘i interpretation denies even one verse of the Qur’an,
◈ Such a person is deemed a murtad (apostate) — meaning they are expelled from the fold of Islam.
◈ Denying any verse of the Qur’an is equivalent to denying the speech of Allah ﷻ,
◈ And to deny the speech of Allah ﷻ is tantamount to denying Allah Himself.
◈ Therefore, such denial constitutes disbelief (kufr).
✦ Ruling on Sectarianism in Islam
◈ Sectarianism, meaning splitting into groups and forming parties based on ideologies or principles not rooted in Sharī‘ah,
◈ Such sectarian divisions are prohibited (ḥarām) and rejected in Islam.
◈ In the sight of Allah ﷻ, the only acceptable group is:
➤ The one whose actions conform to the Qur’an and Sunnah.
◈ This has been explicitly identified by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:
“The group that is upon what I and my Companions are upon — that is the correct one; the rest are mere sects.”
(Sunan al-Tirmidhī: 2641)
Conclusion
① Deliberate denial of any verse of the Qur’an is clear disbelief (kufr).
② Sects formed on non-Islamic foundations are invalid and rejected.
③ The only saved group is that which adheres to the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and his noble Companions (ṣaḥābah).
