الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام علىٰ رسول الله، أما بعد!
Among the extraordinary events to occur near the Day of Judgment is the phenomenon of animals speaking to humans. These occurrences are authentically reported in Hadith, and the Prophet ﷺ himself narrated them — affirming their truth and mentioning his and his Companions’ belief in them.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه, the Prophet ﷺ said:
“A man from Banī Isrāʾīl was driving a cow to the market. When he mounted it and struck it, the cow said:
‘We were not created for riding. We were created for ploughing the land.’
The people exclaimed: *‘Subḥān Allāh! A cow that speaks?!’
The Prophet ﷺ responded:
‘I, Abū Bakr, and ʿUmar believe in this’
(even though Abū Bakr and ʿUmar were not present at the time).”

The same Hadith continues:
“Another man from Banī Isrāʾīl was herding his sheep, when suddenly a wolf snatched one goat and ran off.
The man chased the wolf and rescued the goat from its mouth.
The wolf then spoke:
‘O human! Today you have taken it from me. But a time will come near the Day of Judgment when there will be no one to guard it except me!’
The people again said: ‘Subḥān Allāh! A wolf that talks?!’
And the Prophet ﷺ affirmed:
‘I, Abū Bakr, and ʿUmar believe in this.’”

In another Hadith, the Prophet ﷺ swore by Allah and said:
“By the One in whose Hand is my soul! The Hour will not be established until wild beasts speak to people.”

The above narrations highlight the following truths:
❀ Speaking animals will be among the miraculous signs of the Last Hour.
❀ Incidents such as the cow and the wolf speaking have already occurred and were affirmed by the Prophet ﷺ.
❀ These events are considered part of belief in the unseen (Īmān bil-Ghayb).
❀ Belief in such signs is part of true Islamic faith, as confirmed by the Prophet ﷺ and his most senior Companions.
