According to the story, his wife informed the Prophet ﷺ about this incident through a messenger. The Prophet ﷺ inquired whether his parents were alive and learned that only his mother was, and that she was displeased with him due to his favoring his wife over her. She was brought before the Prophet ﷺ and confirmed her anger.
The Prophet ﷺ urged her to forgive Alqamah, but she refused. He then ordered Bilal رضي الله عنه to gather firewood to burn Alqamah, which terrified the mother, prompting her to forgive him. Immediately after, Alqamah was able to recite the kalimah and passed away in that state.
Following this, the Prophet ﷺ is reported to have stated the severe consequences of disobedience to one’s mother, invoking the curse of Allah, angels, and people upon such individuals.
This narration is found in Khawaja Muhammad Islam’s book “Maut ka Manzar” and attributed to al-Ṭabarānī and others.
This narration is quoted in Deobandi books such as Tablīghī Niṣāb, Faḍā’il al-A‘māl, and Faḍā’il al-Dhikr, citing Majma‘ al-Zawā’id, and classifying the narrator as matrūk.
Due to the presence of a severely weak and accused narrator (Fā’id ibn ‘Abd al-Raḥmān), this report is mawḍū‘ (fabricated) and cannot be narrated without clarification and rejection. To propagate it without highlighting its fabrication is impermissible.
