Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
3. Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor is He displeased [2].
[2] The background of the revelation of this surah is that the first revelation was sent down to you ﷺ in the Cave of Hira, which were the initial five verses of Surah Al-‘Alaq. At that time, the impact of the revelation was such that when you ﷺ came home and narrated the incident to Sayyidah Khadijah ؓ, you said: ﴿اني خشيت علٰي نفسي﴾ that I feared for my life. And the delight and ecstasy were such that after this incident, you would always be waiting for the arrival of Jibreel, but the revelation stopped for a period. How long was this period? There are different opinions regarding this. The minimum is three days and the maximum is six months. And Allah knows best what is correct. This interval is called Fatrat al-Wahy (the pause in revelation). During this time, you yourself would sometimes think that perhaps my Lord has become displeased with me? And the disbelievers, in any case, were always looking for such an opportunity to vent their inner agitation, as is evident from the following hadith: Jundub bin Sufyan narrates that once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was unwell and could not get up (for the night prayer) for two or three nights. A woman (Awwarah bint Harb, the sister of Abu Sufyan and the wife of Abu Lahab) came to you ﷺ and said: "Muhammad ﷺ, I think your devil has forsaken you; I have not seen him with you for two or three nights." At that time, Allah Almighty revealed these verses. [بخاري۔ كتاب التفسير]
[3] In this verse, Allah Almighty gave you ﷺ a magnificent glad tiding, and gave it at a time when there were no signs of its fulfillment anywhere to be seen. Also, in this, you ﷺ were given reassurance that you should not be distressed by the persecution and oppression of the disbelievers of Makkah. Because every coming period of your life will be better than the previous one. In other words, your honor and dignity will continue to increase gradually. Then, this promise is not limited only to the life of this world, but the lofty status that will be granted to you in the Hereafter will not be granted to anyone else in the universe.
