فَلْيَضْحَكُوا۟ قَلِيلًا وَلْيَبْكُوا۟ كَثِيرًا جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ﴿82﴾
So let them laugh a little and (they will) cry much as a recompense of what they used to earn (by committing sins).
فَلْيَضْحَكُوا۟ falyaḍḥakū So let them laugh
قَلِيلًۭا qalīlan a little
وَلْيَبْكُوا۟ walyabkū and let them weep
كَثِيرًۭا kathīran much
جَزَآءًۢ jazāan (as) a recompense
بِمَا bimā for what
كَانُوا۟ kānū they used to
يَكْسِبُونَ yaksibūna earn

82. Let them laugh a little and weep much, as a recompense for what they have been earning [97].

[97] Considering the kind of deeds they are doing in this world, it would have been appropriate for them to laugh little and weep much. And if they do not understand this today, then on the Day of Judgment, this is exactly what they will have to do.
