Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Then when Allah gave them out of His bounty, they became stingy [92] and turned away in aversion from their promise.

The Hypocrites Considering Zakat as a Fine:

This is not about a single person, but rather the majority of hypocrites were such that at first they would pray to become wealthy, then they would say, "We will give so much charity, we will do such and such good deeds, we will be grateful to Allah." But when Allah bestowed His grace and favor upon them, they became miserly and claimed that this wealth was the result of their own hard work day and night. In the hadith, three signs of a hypocrite are mentioned: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is entrusted, he betrays the trust. And according to another hadith, the fourth sign is that when he quarrels, he uses foul language. In reality, the one who does not give zakat and denies it is a confirmed disbeliever, as is clear from the following ahadith:

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah ؓ narrates that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr ؓ became the caliph, some people among the Arabs became disbelievers (and refused to give zakat). Sayyiduna Umar ؓ said, "How will you fight with the people when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has said that I have been commanded to fight the people until they say «لا اله الا الله». When they say this, they have protected their wealth and lives from me except for its due right, and their reckoning is with Allah." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq ؓ said, "By Allah! I will surely fight the one who differentiates between prayer and zakat, because zakat is the due right of wealth. By Allah! If they withhold even a young goat which they used to give to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I will fight them for it." Sayyiduna Umar ؓ said, "By Allah! Allah had opened the chest of Abu Bakr ؓ and I realized that this was the truth." [بخاري۔ كتاب الزكوٰة]

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah ؓ and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id ؓ say that one day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon to us and said, "There is no person who performs the five daily prayers, fasts in Ramadan, gives zakat from his wealth, and avoids the seven major sins, except that the doors of Paradise will be opened for him and it will be said to him, 'Enter Paradise in peace.'"
