Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

55. Do not let their wealth and children amaze you. Allah only intends to punish them through these things in the life of this world [59], and that their souls depart while they are disbelievers.

How Were the Hypocrites Punished Through Wealth and Children?

All the hypocrites in Madinah were elderly and wealthy people, and the sole objective of the hypocrites was the attainment of worldly benefits. Therefore, like ordinary materialists and world-worshippers, for them too, the standard of honor and prestige was abundance of children and wealth. Now, the difficulty they faced was that their children became Muslims, for whom the standard of honor and prestige was completely opposite to theirs. In their eyes, the value of wealth and property was insignificant compared to obedience to Allah and His Messenger, and for them, the standard of honor and prestige was that the more devoted and obedient someone was to Allah’s Messenger, the more respected and honored he would be considered in the Islamic society. This ideological difference humiliated them even in the eyes of their own children. In this way, Allah punished them in this world through their very own children. And since they could not change their self-worshipping nature, they remained entangled in this cycle of delusion until death came to them, and they departed from this world with the same hypocrisy and humiliation.
