Say: "Spend (in Allâh’s Cause) willingly or unwillingly, it will not be accepted from you. Verily, you are ever a people who are Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh)."

53. Say, “Spend willingly or unwillingly, it will never be accepted [57] from you, for you are a defiantly disobedient people.”
[57] The Wealth of a Hypocrite is Not Accepted:
Jad bin Qais made an excuse of being tempted by Roman women and thus apologized for not going out for jihad, but at the same time he said that he was ready to offer financial assistance. Allah Almighty replied to this: Whether you offer this financial assistance willingly or unwillingly, it will not be accepted. You may keep it with yourselves, because it is clear that disobedient or hypocritical people never give charity solely for the pleasure of Allah. Whenever they do so, it is either for show or out of compulsion. Then what is the need to accept such charity?
