Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance (to Allâh), then they will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

10. Surely those who persecuted believing men and believing women and then did not repent, for them is the punishment of Hell, and for them is the punishment of burning [6].

[6] Although the hadiths do not explicitly mention the fate of the Companions of the Trench, the commentators write that the very fire used to burn others went out of the control of those who kindled it, reached their homes, and reduced them to ashes. It is also possible that the phrase: ﴿وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيْقِ﴾ is mentioned as a description of the torment of Hell itself. Moreover, this verse does not relate only to the Companions of the Trench, but is general, and in it the disbelievers of Makkah are warned that whoever inflicts harm upon believing men and women solely because they believe in one Allah, their end will be the same.
