Surah Al-Inshiqaaq (84) — Ayah 10

10. But as for the one whose record is given from behind his back [7],
[7] In Surah Al-Haqqah it is stated that his record will be given in his left hand, and here it is stated that it will be given from behind his back. Both statements are correct, and the way to reconcile them is that the wretched ones will already know that their record is going to be given in their left hand, because they will be fully aware of their own deeds. Therefore, they will put their left hand behind their back, so that at least when receiving the record, they are not disgraced in front of the people standing before them.
